Special session for geo-big data construction and utilization with participation of domestic and foreign experts, introduction of related open platforms

New Northern Geological Resources Big Data International Workshop, presentation of domestic and foreign researchers

An international research conference that combines artificial intelligence (AI) and big data in the field of geological resources will be held. Not only domestic experts, but also experts from the Mongolian Geological Survey and the Uzbekistan National Geological Resources Committee will attend and present the presentation.

The Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (acting president Kim Kwang-eun) will hold the 'GEOAI Data Fall Conference' from the 25th to the 26th at the Paradise Hotel in Busan. We plan to hold 'Geo Big Data Construction and Utilization Special Session' and 'New Northern Geological Resource Big Data Construction Cooperation' international workshops.

Special sessions and international workshops are a place to share technological trends that combine AI and big data with geological resources. In particular, it deals with cooperation plans and development directions through big data construction in strategic new northern countries such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia.

Geo big Data:  The main discussion is

In particular, in the special session of 'Geobig Data Construction and Utilization' to be held on the 26th, ▲Geobig Data status and usage plan ▲Research data sharing storage ▲Shared utilization system ▲Platform building technology development, etc. will be discussed.

Jong-gyu Han, head of the Geotechnical Resources Data Center, will give a presentation under the theme of 'Geobig Ator Open Platform Status and Plan'. Introduces the geo-big data open platform that is currently successfully operating and discusses the development direction. Director of Geoplatform Research Division, Director, introduces spatial prediction analysis and preparation methods in the field of geological resources. 

At the 'International Workshop for Cooperation in Building Big Data on New Northern Geological Resources', not only domestic but also Uzbek, Kazakh, and Mongolian geological resource data experts will participate. We plan to share the current state of geological resource data in each country.

In Korea, the current status of big data utilization in the environmental field will be introduced. It also plans to present examples of data construction in the New Northern countries such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia. In particular, Uyanga Bold, Vice President of the Mongolian Geological Survey, and Inoyatov Jakhongir, Senior Researcher, National Geologic Resources Committee, Uzbek, will attend. Based on the current state of geological resources in the country, we plan to introduce a technological cooperation plan for geological resource big data construction through cooperation with the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources.

Acting President Han Ji-won and Kim Kwang-eun emphasized, "In a hyper-gap society accelerated by COVID-19, it is important to develop new technologies through big data construction for the realization of geological resource AI." “We need to conduct research in cooperation with major countries in the world as well as in Korea,” he said.

This event is hosted by the Geoi Data Society and supervised by the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, the National Institute of Ecology, the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, the Korea Polar Research Institute, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, the Korea Environmental Research Institute, and the Korea Water Resources Corporation.
