Why Enterprises Are Looking at Hybrid Cloud ?

Why Enterprises Are Looking at Hybrid Cloud?

According to the Nutanix 2018 Enterprise Cloud Index of 2,300 enterprise IT decision makers, 91% of all respondents said hybrid cloud is their most ideal IT model.
Hybrid cloud refers to a form of using a public cloud, a private cloud, or an on-premises system in parallel.

Using multiple cloud systems in parallel is cumbersome as management points increase.

Why are enterprises paying attention to hybrid cloud?

The main reason is that by combining the advantages of public cloud and private cloud/on-premises, you can configure an infrastructure optimized for your business.

Public cloud uses services provided by cloud providers outside of the enterprise and does not need to build its own infrastructure. It is mainly used when operating workloads that are difficult to predict, such as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that lack infrastructure building personnel and resources, or newly launched services.

A private cloud refers to a cloud system directly managed by a company or a system that can be accessed only through a private network from an external data center. As it is a structure in which the infrastructure is built directly, both the initial construction cost and various resource usage fees must be paid, but it has the advantage of being able to operate according to the characteristics of the company and excellent in security.

Enterprises use a public cloud that can expand resources quickly and relatively economically for unpredictable workloads such as new service launches, digital marketing activities, or processing large amounts of data, while managing and backing up key business and confidential data in private It can be managed in the cloud or on-premises for both scalability and reliability.
Another reason to consider a hybrid cloud is that you can safely move your workloads to a cloud environment while using on-premises and public clouds in parallel.

As the cloud becomes an IT infrastructure trend, companies that cloud their infrastructure systems are going through a phase of using the public cloud together with the existing on-premises.

In case of security and privacy concerns, which are the biggest concerns while moving to the cloud, or accidents that occur while changing from the existing infrastructure environment, the core business is left on-premises, and when additional computing resources are needed, resources are immediately available using the public cloud. It is a form of expansion and use.

As such, hybrid cloud is emerging as the most ideal infrastructure model because it is a compromise that complements public cloud, private cloud, or on-premises systems.

Hybrid cloud configuration

However, in order to configure a hybrid cloud environment, there are difficulties in connecting the public cloud and internal systems (private cloud/on-premises) and integrating management of different systems.

Since a high level of expertise is required for implementation and operation, cloud companies develop and provide technical support and integrated management solutions. If you don't have in-house cloud experts, but want to realize business workload optimization or phased migration to cloud systems through hybrid cloud, it's a good idea to check in advance whether they offer support services.
