What is (AI) ,How did it come about? Why is it important ? 20.22

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the basic intelligence that mimics human intelligence by creating and applying algorithms embedded in dynamic computing environments. Simply put, AI seeks to create computers that think and act like humans.

Three key components are required to achieve this goal.

·         counting system

·         Data and data management

·         Advanced AI Algorithmes (Code)

The more human-like results you want, the more data and processing power you need.

How did artificial intelligence come about?

Since at least the first century BC, humans have been intrigued by the possibility of building machines that mimic the human brain. In modern times, the term artificial intelligence was coined by John McCarthy in 1955 . In 1956, McCarthy, along with others, held a conference entitled "Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence," which began with machine learning , deep learning, predictive analytics, and prescriptive It led to the birth of analytics. A whole new field of research has also emerged: data science.

Why is artificial intelligence important?

The amount of data generated by both humans and machines today far exceeds our ability to absorb, interpret, and make complex decisions. Artificial intelligence is the foundation of all computer learning and the future of all complex decision making. For example, most humans can figure out how to win a 3-neck match (a game in which two players alternately draw O or X in 9 squares). Here, 255,168 unique moves are possible, of which 46,080 end in a draw. However, not many people can win a checkers with 500 x 10 18 or more than 50,000 different moves. Computers are very efficient at calculating these combinations and permutations to make the best decisions. Logical advances in AI and machine learning, and deep learning, are future technologies that underpin business decisions.

Artificial Intelligence Use Cases

AI is being found in everyday scenarios such as detecting financial services fraud, predicting purchases in retail, and interacting with online customer support. Here are some examples:

fraud detection. The financial services industry uses artificial intelligence in two ways. We use AI to determine the creditworthiness of our credit loan applications when we first score them. A more advanced AI engine is used to monitor and detect fraudulent payment card transactions in real time.

Virtual Customer Support (VCA). Call centers use VCA to predict and respond to customer inquiries without human interaction. Speech recognition, along with simulated human conversations, is used as the first point of interaction for customer service inquiries. Higher-level inquiries are directed to the staff.

When you start a conversation through a chat (chatbot) on a web page, you are often interacting with a computer running specialized AI. For issues that the chatbot cannot interpret or solve, employees intervene and communicate directly with humans. These uninterpreted practices are fed into machine learning computing systems where they are used to improve AI applications for future interactions.

NetApp and artificial intelligence

NetApp AI solutions are built on the following key components:

ONTAP ® software supports AI and deep learning, both on-premises and in the hybrid cloud.

The AFF All-Flash system accelerates AI and deep learning workloads, eliminating performance bottlenecks.

ONTAP Select software enables efficient data collection at the edge using IoT devices and aggregation points.

Cloud Volumes allow you to quickly prototype new projects and move AI data seamlessly between clouds.

In addition, NetApp is beginning to integrate big data analytics and artificial intelligence into its products and services. For example, Active IQ ® uses billions of data points, predictive analytics, and powerful machine learning to provide the proactive customer support recommendations needed for complex IT environments. Active IQ is a hybrid cloud application built using the same NetApp products and technologies we use to build AI solutions for a variety of use cases.
